Damage Calculation in v2.0
- Damage Calculation has been revised with more emphasis on elemental relationships. This change ensures that players who build their teams and send the right units against the right enemies in battle will be rewarded, while using incorrect elements will be punished.
- Effectively, it rebalances the game to reduce units from ignoring the elemental cycle through brute strength and restores the need to strategize in battles.
- i.e. Using a water dmg skill with a water element unit to attack a fire unit will yield massively greater damage. A fire unit defending against a wind attack from a wind unit will take minimal damage.
Tweaks to Agility, changes to parameters and skills of old units, giving additional jobs and rarity to old units
- THE ALCHEMIST CODE is meant to be a game where each unit and each job is useful and there are no units that guarantee to bring you victory. However, due to the inflation of damage and also some units getting outdated, there are cases where this does not apply.
In order to fix that, we are tweaking the skills and parameters of units so that old jobs and units have a better place in the game, and to also provide a wider range of units to pick from for all users.
Status effect healing skills and more resistances added to equipment
- Status effects are often overpowered and there is little way to avoid them, which cause certain enemies or stages that rely on status effects to be hard to deal with through strategic ways.
That is why we are giving users better means to counter status effects and we are making them easier to avoid through specific skills or jobs.
Addition of enemy types and addition of bonus damage against certain enemy types for certain skills
- In THE ALCHEMIST CODE, each enemy type is supposed to have its own traits, strengths and weaknesses, but this is hard to grasp at times.
We are increasing the way of dealing with specific enemy types and we are making clear how enemies are meant to be dealt with.
Shorter channeling times and buffs to magic user jobs
- As part of our endeavor to make all units and jobs useful a lot of skills for our magic user jobs such as the Sage, the Bishop, etc. are getting longer range, shorter channeling times and other buffs.
This is due to the current situation in THE ALCHEMIST CODE where magic users are required to get close to the enemy and still have to wait for the skill to be casted, which is a disadvantage when compared to other jobs who still can cast their skills immediately from a long range while having stronger base stats than magic users.
We are doing this to give more versatility to magic users and we will also make sure that both physical damage dealers and magic damage dealers have a place in our game in the short and long term.
Changes that affect the whole balance of the game
- The damage calculation formula has been changed so that the elemental affinity (both for resistance or weakness) has less of an impact
Before:
The elemental affinity multiplier between the skills and the units was being calculated before substracting resistances and defense values. This made the damage to become very small when the element was not an appropriate one, and the damage to become very high when the element was the appropriate one.
Now:
The elemental afinity multiplier between the skills and the units is not being calculated after the resistances and defenses are being considered in the damage calculation. This makes the damage to still be significant even if the element is not the appropriate one, while the damage is reduced when the element is the appropriate one.
Changes that affects all units
- In addition, the following changes have been applied to make all units more tanky:
- All units have their base HP and maximum HP buffed
- All jobs now provide more HP when they get Mastered
